Physics & Equipment Setup

Before you can read an ultrasound, you need to understand how the image is created. This foundation session covers the essentials — including how to optimise your machine settings for different patients, a step often overlooked in generic courses.

  • How ultrasound waves produce images — the practical version
  • Transducer selection for different body regions and patient sizes
  • Optimising depth, gain, focus, and frequency
  • Artefacts and how to avoid misreading them
  • Patient preparation: clipping, positioning, probe handling
